Dale's Young Life - in his own words Miller Grandparents

Created by Ruby Gayle 10 years ago
Grandfather Miller I never got to know him very well, but he came to our home several times and we went to Happy Valley for reunions while I was still small. He died while on a hunting trip in Old Mexico and they had to smuggle his body back over the border to avoid problems. I think it was Uncle Johnny who got him back into the states. Was told the Millers came from Seminole, Texas to where they finally homesteaded in Happy Valley outside of Benson, Arizona. Seems He was a Texas Ranger as well as an Arizona Ranger. I've heard that his Texas Ranger badge is around, but no one seems to know where. The letter I'm looking for is one he wrote to our mother while he was looking for gold in northern Arizona. Grandmother Miller She stayed in our home after Grandfather Miller died. She tried to teach us music and succeeded in teaching sister Bertha at least, and maybe others. Hard to imagine the kind of lives our Grandmothers had living out in the middle of nowhere and very little communication with the rest of the world. I did find the letter written by her mother or grandmother. It is 10 pages long.
